Assembly of the Material Arts Academy is dedicated to teaching mixed martial arts with a focus on fitness and self-defense. My son has been attending classes since he was 3, now 9 and a first degree black belt. He is always highly motivated with training with the very well trained sabunim. Teaches discipline and awareness while providing a great workout and fun environment.

My son began martial arts training with AMAA in 1st grade as part of our ADHD management plan. He started in the after school program coordinated by Park Rec once a week, then joined the summer program. That autumn he started training full time, 3 times a week. Upon earning his brown belt, he started helping out with the Little Dragons as a way to give back. Now a black belt, my son shows control, a positive attitude, and compassion for others. The Sabunims at AMAA are excellent role models who clearly care for their students. My son is also hearing impaired, and they have made modifications to their instruction to make sure they speak to his "good" side and repeat directions if needed when it appears he did not hear them. I would definitely recommend AMAA to another parent considering signing a child up for martial arts training.

This is the only activity my daughter ever stuck to without complaining! She's been involved for five years. She likes all of the Sabunims, respects them, and has developed confidence over the years. She is fifteen years old. More importantly, I like the Sabunims, too. They are patient & always encourage the kids, telling them that can learn at their own pace & it's okay if they take a long time to advance. The importance is on learning the correct way to do things. Quality. Additionally they are very good at redirecting the children who might otherwise be wandering, goofing around, etc. They don't harshly reprimand. They are polite to the children & are quickly able to get them back on track. I like the talks about bullying & what to do. Before school starts in Sept., they remind kids to work hard in school. They talk about Halloween safety. This is, in my opinion, a very good environment for children to spend time. I feel very lucky that we came across this studio!

It's a fantastic studio to train at. Well qualified Sabinums and a lot of patience. Many classes to chose from. I do family karate with my grandson and cardio in inner circle. Come down and try it. You'll love it.

My grandson has been going to Assembly of Martial Arts in West Haven, CT for about 3 years now. He just entered his first karate tournament and came home with two trophies. His courage, stamina and self esteem can only be accredited to this wonderful karate school. Lance has special needs and all the Sabinums compensate for this and show him over and over with extreme patience. Thank you everyone at the AMAA karate studio. Your all fantastic!! Nonnie

Recommends a great place to take your children to learn a very strong and unique sport. Also great for adults, they have so much to offer, each and every sabuiam is dedicated to helping your children learn and failing and I can’t isnt an option because they never allow it to be. Doesn’t matter if you do not get that they are teaching, will continue that one step or motion until you do. I am so happy my niece started taking karate to help her build herself esteem and become a very strong young women, as it’s helped me grow and become strong with personal training sessions I take with Sabanium R

My son has been going to the West Haven studio for about two years and it has been the best two years. My son is an only child and doesn’t have and older sibling to talk to, but know that we are part of the Karate family ( that is how they make you feel) he has so many wonderful Sabunim to talk to about anything. They always will lend an ear. My husband and I are thankful for that because kids need some one else that they can talk to and all of the Sabunim are GREAT role models for my son. They are all so wonderful to my son that I can’t say enough wonderful stuff about them. My husband and I are thankful that ALL of the Sabunim are a part of our life. They are all a Great role model for our son. To all the Sabunim James and I just want to say Thank you for everything.

Recommends The Very Best!
I and one other teacher at my high school have been working with Adam Rylski, owner, of Assembly of The Martial Arts Academy, for over 10 years. Our students are offered self defense classes through Adam and his staff. Adam has always been easy to get in touch with and quick to respond. He and his staff are highly professional, approachable and knowledgeable. Over the last 6 years, my students have been instructed by Sabunim T. He has made lasting connections with my students as many of them have gone on to sign up for classes directly with the Academy. Each year many remark at "how valuable this is for them as (they're) headed off to college next year and these skills will help give (them) confidence to protect (themselves) on college campuses." I always look forward to each new year to work with Adam and his staff. All are so wonderful and I can't say enough good things about them!

Highly Recommended for both Adults and Children
My daughter has been attending the Assembly of the Martial Arts Academy for five years. She has no intentions of stopping and loves this school. Her involvement with AMAA has positively effected all areas of her life. She is my most valuable possession and I trust all of the instructors implicitly. All of the instructors are highly trained and skilled. They show interest in their students and are patient, respectful, kind and caring. My daughter has been trained by Sabunim T and Sabunim R and she respects and loves them. She perceives them as role models and they have become important people in her life. Having had such a good experience with watching my daughter grow and witnessing the skill of the instructors, I, myself enrolled with the school. Sabunim R has worked patiently with me in private lessons. I have learned valuable self defense skills and am working thru their belt system. As a woman, martial arts has been an empowering experience and a great gift

Big help!!
My son doesn't like to do any, but he loves going to karate. He has a hard time dealing with making mistakes. The Sabinums are very patient with him and help him work through it. They give him individual attention to make sure he knows what and how to do the moves. They also take time to ask him how things are going at school and home and help him deal with any issues he may be having outside of class. I can't say enough good things about them.
Congrats to our Gladiator of the Day!
